Hourokusha

We live from the soil.

When I was a company employee and was sent to Yonezawa, Yamagata Prefecture, where agriculture is flourishing, I suddenly had this thought.

I am currently farming in the Fujino area of Sagamihara City, Kanagawa Prefecture.

We produce a wide variety of vegetables without using fertilisers or pesticides, and also offer various hands-on projects, such as making leather products from locally caught deer and wild boar.

We have also started a private accommodation business from 2022.

What fascinating experiences are on offer at the Hourokusha?

The reporter had a go!

猪革をかしめる_edited.jpg

"I wanted to 'make something from local products'. At the moment, I get wild boar and deer skins from hunters in Fujino and have them made into leather by a supplier in Tokyo.

He told us that he had decided to hold a workshop using the leather.more →

STAY AT THE PRIVATE RESIDENCE

Where to stay

The Mine Foothills House is situated at the foot of the Mine Mountains, in a rich natural environment where the sounds of insects and birds can be heard. We grow vegetables naturally and offer various agricultural experiences. The Mine Foothills House was originally a recreation centre and has been converted into a guesthouse, so it is a solid one-storey Japanese building that can be used spaciously. Bathrooms and toilets have been renovated so you can stay here with peace of mind. Grocery stores and supermarkets are 10 minutes away by car. There are also hot spring facilities and river playgrounds nearby, and we can guide you to restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner, so please feel free to contact us.

[Making decorations]

Making shimekidari in a quiet environment surrounded by mountains while listening to a story about rice straw. I felt again a sense of gratitude towards the environment, the plants and the farmers around me. I would like to go every year at the end of the year.
