Experience making a card case using boar leather caught in Fujino (weekday mornings)
Wed 10 Sept
|Hourokusha
This is a workshop where you will make a business card holder from boar leather caught in Fujino. First, we will talk about our relationship with boars and deer in our lives here in Fujino. Normally, in the leather industry, which is in conjunction with the livestock industry, the leather of wild animals is not usually distributed on the market. In recent years, the use of wild boar and deer leather has been increasing in Japan due to the increase in damage caused by wild animals on agricultural crops and the emergence of tanneries that will process animal skins. The leather used in this experience is tanned boar skins caught in the Fujino area of Sagamihara City for pest control or hunting. We will use a kit that is easy to make, requiring only cutting the leather and attaching metal fittings, so even beginners to leatherworking can get started.
